  • How to contact claims

    It's always reassuring to know the status of the situation, and that's why Elephant keeps you updated on how your auto insurance claim is coming along.

    If you have any questions about the status of your claim during regular business hours (Monday – Friday 8:00am-6:00pm Eastern Time) call us at 1-877-21-TRUNK (1-877-218-7865).

    If you need information on your claim during non-core business hours, you can send an email to afterhoursclaims@elephant.com, include your name, contact information, claim number, and the nature of your inquiry, and one of our claims associates will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • What you need to check on a claim

    • Claim number

      The 12 digit number assigned to you when you called to report your claim. With it, we can pull up your case quickly.
    • Name or extension of claims associate

      If you want to speak to the same associate you filed your claim with, have their name or extension handy.
  • What to expect in the claims process

    When you report a claim, we’ll have a Claims Specialist begin to work on it right away.

    Some steps the Claims Specialist will commonly follow include:

    • Review your insurance policy and the coverage in effect for the loss to determine what types of damage or injuries are covered.
    • Attempt to speak with everyone involved in the incident – drivers, passengers, witnesses, etc – to get everyone's account of the incident.
    • Conduct a detailed interview with each person involved if there are conflicting versions of what happened in the incident.
    • Review other relevant information such as the police report, applicable state and local traffic laws, photos of the scene and the vehicles involved and other available information.
